CHIEF INFORMATION OFFICER

Summary of Position

Charged with spearheading the further expansion of the IT infrastructure of American University of Nigeria (AUN).
We are seeking an enthusiastic, entrepreneurial Individual to develop and implement IT policy, lead the IT planning processes, and set the overall strategic direction for technology services.

Responsibilities
  • Lead innovation efforts and have executive responsibility for information technology responsibility services involving all University locations on campus and off campus.
  • Negotiate and maintain responsibility for managing various IT related vendor contracts. Assist with or create requests for proposals for IT related projects.
  • Translate and articulate administrative and educational goals of the institution into technical initiatives.
  • Recommend and / or determine the University’s long-term system needs and propose hardware/software solution to accomplish the University’s business objectives and to support campus goals.
  • Develop and implement a reliable and easily scalable IT Architecture for the University at the logical through physical and application layers.
  • Build and motivate a high performing team. Manage the day-to-day operations of the information technology department including directing staff who support administrative and / or academic computing, networking, user services, telecommunications and other information technology functions.
  • Other responsibilities as may be assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/15 plus preferably 10 or more years of post-graduate experience and or related training.
  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science and / or related discipline is preferred.
  • Prior experience as a senior executive within an IT Department supporting a large university or equivalent industry experience with sound Management and Technical Skills.
  • Excellent communication skills including ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or Board of Trustees will be an additional advantage.


BANNER PROJECT MANAGER

Summary of Position

Oversees the Banner project including establishing and maintaining the project schedule, evaluating and assigning both the staff and resources as needed.
Provides consulting services to the users, for all project-related administrative applications, providing analysis and oversight of software enhancements, maintenance programs, and release updates.

Responsibilities
  • Runs the project on a day-to-day basis, coordinates users and service providers.
  • Manages a server environment to include security, data safety and integrity disaster recovery, and development and implementation of bulk data import / export procedures.
  • Manages multiple servers and workstations ensuring proper integration of these components with existing University computer systems.
  • Researches, evaluate purchase, installs, configures, and troubleshoots all hardware, peripherals, and equipment necessary to meet integrated systems objectives. Troubleshoots networks, systems, and applications to identity and correct malfunctions and other operational problems.
Requirements
  • Engineering degree in Computer science or related field;
  • 10 years related experience; OR, any equivalent combination of education and or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
  • Experienced project manager with expertise in multi-module SunGard Banner implementations for a 2 or 4 years university environment
  • Project management experience and a solid understanding of financial and human resource functionality and how they integrate with Banner.
  • Excellent communication skills.


LAB. TECHNOLOGIST (PHYSICS)

Requirements
  • HND in Laboratory Science and Technology with specialization in physics laboratories.
  • Adequate knowledge of electrical and electronic equipment, computer literacy is compulsory, keen interest in learning how to interface physics lab with computers and knowledge in data acquisition is desired.
