Education:
A university or professional college degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

An advanced degree in commerce and certified membership in a professional association related to the work.
Experience:
At least 5-7 years professional experience in international purchasing.

At least 3-5 years field experience in a humanitarian organisation.

At least 3 years in managing and supporting staff.

Red Cross/Red Crescent knowledge and experience.
Skills:
Good knowledge of complex supply chain management.

Strong people management and development skills.

In-depth grasp of international procurement practices, incl. legal aspect.

Problem solving skills.

Good project management skills.

Understanding of financial processes and budgeting.

Ability to work in a cross-cultural and cross-functional environment.

Good communications skills.

Must be able to travel at all times and at short notice, and to work outside normal working hours as the situation requires and under stressful working conditions.
