Careers Nigeria: Chief Financial Officer (Telco)

Careers Nigeria is acting on behalf of a Telecom client. They are searching for a Chief Financial Officer.

Responsibilities


* Provide strategic leadership, management and vision to the company’s financial structure and organisation ensuring maximum profit and return on investment.
* All internal financial matters relating to the firm, including:
o Financial management and reporting, including preparation of financial reporting packages for management meetings,
o Establish standard cost and inventory system
o Prepare and analyze monthly expense and P&L reports
o Prepare quarterly financial statements complete with management analysis
o Manage annual operating plans and budgets
o Analysis of company performance comparing and analysing segment results against budget and prior years,
o Review, establish and maintain internal control standards and procedures,
o Establish current and long-term financial objectives, plans and policies within the Management team,
o Preparation of Annual Budgets and Preparations of new regional market budgets, as required by the Board of Directors for go/no go decisions
o Support of Regional Financial Managers
* All aspects of the Budget process,
* Payables and receivables administration,
* Control of company records, leases, obligations and other documents,
* Integrating accounting systems with other in-house software to improve automation of transaction processing,
* Special projects as required.
* All external financial matters, including:
o Preparation of consolidated financial statements and associated working papers for external audit and liaison with auditors,
* Represent the company ensuring regulatory and financial reporting requirements are met.

Requirements


* An internationally recognised accounting designation (e.g. CA/CPA/ACA/CGA/CMA) with at least five years’ experience in a financial controller role (prior auditing experience within a major public accounting firm is desirable),
* Detailed knowledge of the accounting treatment of all types of financial instruments, IAS, and the regulatory environment in the Nigerian Telecom industry,
* Verbal and written communication skills, presentation skills and the ability to influence others,
* A track record of success meeting tight deadlines in a high pressure, fast-paced environment as well as the ability to follow projects through to successful completion,
* To tenaciously pursue the company’s financial objectives, work independently without direction, and provide solutions within every aspect of the controller’s sphere of influence.

This role is only suitable for individuals seeking a very “hands on” role.
